Our bodies have an amazing ability to heal themselves, given the right environment. I take a holistic, whole-body approach to my healing work. If you are not healthy in mind or spirit, then it is likely that physical illness will eventually manifest in your body. Often unresolved traumas from childhood or earlier in life can lead to illness and dis-ease further down the line. Relationship problems, stress in the workplace, caring responsibilities, can all contribute to the eventual breakdown of our health.
I work with my clients to explore the issues that are causing them concern and decide on the best therapy to use for their particular problem.
Hypnotherapy is a psychological therapy, a technique of counselling using deep relaxation to enable the client to reach a trance state. In this trance state, a client's conscious mind is so relaxed that the therapist can communicate directly with their subconscious mind.
Reflexology is an ancient art originating from Chinese and Eastern traditions. It is an non-intrusive complementary health therapy. The theory of reflexology is that all the systems and organs of the whole body are mirrored or reflected in smaller peripheral areas, for example the feet, hands, ears and face.
Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) is a complementary therapy that promotes deep relaxation and natural healing. It is administered by “laying on hands”, on or above the client’s body. It is based on the idea than an unseen “life force energy” (also known as chi/ki or prana) flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.
Swedish Massage was developed by Peter Henrik Ling (1776-1839), a Swedish physician and athlete who combined Chinese medical massage techniques with sports medicine to create a technique for decreasing muscle soreness, increasing flexibility and promoting general health.
Hi, my name is Ali Rookes, thank you for visiting my website!
I have always wanted to make a difference and to help people feel better. I was drawn to healing work, though it felt a bit of a pipe dream for many years due to my personal situation. As mid-life beckoned, I finally took the plunge and bowed out of corporate life to pursue my dream. I am so glad that I did and I feel very privileged to be doing what I love and running my own therapy practice.
I trained in Reflexology 10 years ago at the London School of Reflexology. I was taught by its Principal, Louise Keet, author of 'The Reflexology Bible'. She is a leading light in the reflexology world. I qualified after a year of intensive study and became a full Member of the Association of Reflexologists. I have since added facial reflexology and Swedish massage to my holistic therapy skill set.
Reflexology remains a great passion of mine, and as my experience grew, I noticed that I could intuitively 'feel' the body's energy and that my hands grew very hot when I had an intention to heal someone. I went on to develop my healing ability and I initially trained in Usui Reiki (to Master/Teacher level) and then as a healer with Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary. Since moving to West Norfolk, I have become an accredited Spiritualist Healing Medium with the Spiritualists' National Union (SNU) alongside my partner Rob Tarry. We both do volunteer healing at the Norwich Spiritualists' Church.
Over the years, I became increasingly aware of the 'Mind, Body, Spirit' connection and how illness often manifests in the body in response to emotional and spiritual upset and distress. I therefore undertook training four years ago to become a professional hypnotherapist. I now offer hypnotherapy alongside my other therapies and am a registered hynotherapy practitioner, listed on the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR).
I relocated from West Suffolk in 2020 and am now based in beautiful Cockley Cley near Swaffham, within easy travelling distance of Dereham, Fakenham, Downham Market and King’s Lynn and the Norfolk coast.
My partner Rob is also a Usui Reiki Master and healing medium and we offer individual or joint sessions to our clients.
