Therapies for mind, body and spirit, helping you to achieve optimum health and wellbeing

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Amaya Wellbeing.

Our bodies have an amazing ability to heal themselves, given the right environment. I take a holistic, whole-body approach to my healing work. If you are not healthy in mind or spirit, then it is likely that physical illness will eventually manifest in your body. Often unresolved traumas from childhood or earlier in life can lead to illness and dis-ease further down the line. Relationship problems, stress in the workplace, caring responsibilities, can all contribute to the eventual breakdown of our health.

I work with my clients to explore the issues that are causing them concern and decide on the best therapy to use for their particular problem.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a psychological therapy, a technique of counselling using deep relaxation to enable the client to reach a trance state. In this trance state, a client's conscious mind is so relaxed that the therapist can communicate directly with their subconscious mind.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient art originating from Chinese and Eastern traditions. It is an non-intrusive complementary health therapy. The theory of reflexology is that all the systems and organs of the whole body are mirrored or reflected in smaller peripheral areas, for example the feet, hands, ears and face.

Reiki/Healing

Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) is a complementary therapy that promotes deep relaxation and natural healing. It is administered by “laying on hands”, on or above the client’s body.  It is based on the idea than an unseen “life force energy” (also known as chi/ki or prana) flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage was developed by Peter Henrik Ling (1776-1839), a Swedish physician and athlete who combined Chinese medical massage techniques with sports medicine to create a technique for decreasing muscle soreness, increasing flexibility and promoting general health.

About me

Hi, my name is Ali Rookes, thank you for visiting my website!

I always wanted to make a difference somehow, to help people feel better. I was drawn to healing work, though it felt a bit of a pipe dream for many years due to my personal situation.  As mid-life beckoned, I finally took the plunge and bowed out of corporate life to pursue my dream. I am so glad that I did and I feel very privileged to be doing what I love and running my own therapy practice.

I discovered reflexology quite by accident. I was a busy working mum and had various niggling health complaints, probably stress related. One of my clients recommended that I visit her reflexologist. I took her advice and went for a treatment. I was astounded at what the therapist could tell about my health just by touching my feet! I felt wonderful afterwards and my interest in the subject was piqued.  I went on a couple of taster courses before embarking on my studies at the renowned London School of Reflexology. I was taught by its Principal, Louise Keet, author of 'The Reflexology Bible' and a leading light in the reflexology world. I qualified after a year of intensive study and became a full Member of the Association of Reflexologists

After graduating I began treating family and friends and discovered that I really could make a difference! I launched my business, working from my then-home in West Suffolk. I began to steadily grow my practice (largely by word-of-mouth recommendation) and develop my skill set as my client base expanded.

I have taken extensive post graduate training courses, including ‘Pre-conception and Pregnancy’ (Louise Keet), Advanced Reflexology Techniques (A.R.T.) (Tony Porter) ‘Precision Reflexology’ (Jan Williamson) ‘Hip, Sciatica and Knee Workshop’ (Dorthe Korgsgaard and Peter Lund Frandsen from Denmark) and most recently ‘Reflexology for the Treatment of Pain (Mauricio Kruchik from Israel).

As my experience grew, I became much more aware of the body’s energy systems and this spurred me on to add Reiki healing to my skill set (becoming a Usui Reiki Master/Teacher in the process), then spiritual healing (I am a fully registered healer with the Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary near Guildford in Surrey). I am a member of the UK Healers and the Norfolk Healers associations and also a Member of the SNU and a student

healing medium.

As time went by, I learned more and more about the mind-body connection and decided to study for an integrated Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (in counselling, coaching, NLP and Thought Field Therapy) with the East Anglian Institute of Hypnotherapy. After successfully completing the course, I became a professional accredited hypnotherapist, registered on the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR).

As I began practising as a hypnotherapist, I found that many of my clients were suffering from chronic pain. Whilst I was having good results, I wanted to be able to help even more. I heard about the work of Steven Blake, who developed his own healing modality called 'OldPain2Go' and is very successful in totally eliminating long standing pain in a high proportion of his clients. I took his training course and am now a certified 'OldPain2Go' Practitioner and am very pleased to be able to offer this unique healing modality to my clients. Usually, fast results are obtained in as little as one extended session (please enquire for further details and cost).
